Carpet repair, couches and rugs

We clean carpet; we do not repair it. Holes, burns, frayed edges and carpet that has rippled need a carpet repairer, though a clean often makes worn areas look better and is worth doing first. On the day

Clear floors of small items and anything fragile. We move light furniture ourselves; beds and heavy cabinets are cleaned around. Let us know about any stains and what caused them, as tea, wine, pet accidents and ink each need different treatment. After we leave, keep the windows open for airflow and avoid walking on damp carpet in shoes.

For long-term care, vacuum walkways slowly once or twice a week, use mats at every outside door, and blot spills straight away with a white cloth and cold water rather than rubbing. Most family homes are well served by a clean once a year.
