Victorian and Edwardian homes, quality wool

Hawthorn has some of Melbourne’s grandest Victorian and Edwardian homes, alongside interwar houses, mid-century flats and modern apartment buildings. Many period homes have good wool or wool-blend carpet in bedrooms, studies and formal rooms, sometimes with rugs layered on top.

Wool is a beautiful fibre to clean, but it needs care. Too much heat or a strong alkaline product can yellow it or make it feel harsh, and over-wetting can lead to shrinkage or browning. Apartments, lifts and parking
