Sixties brick homes and modern rebuilds

Cleaning lifts soil, oils and most stains, and freshens the colour. It cannot restore colour lost to sun, re-grow pile that is worn through, or fix ripples where the carpet has stretched. Ripples are a job for a carpet layer, who can re-stretch it, and we can clean before or after.

New homes, pale carpet

Pale synthetic carpet in new homes is popular for good reason: it brightens open-plan rooms. It also shows the path from the garage to the kitchen and the patch in front of the couch within a year or two. A thorough steam clean with pre-treatment in those areas brings them back close to the rest of the room. Steam-cleaned carpet is usually dry in one to three hours.

If the home is new and the carpet has builder’s dust or paint marks from the final stages, treat them early, before they are walked deeper.

Large rebuilds often have carpet on two levels plus the stairs, and sometimes a theatre room or upstairs retreat. We generally start at the top and work down, so the bedrooms are drying while we clean the living areas, and we leave a clear path to the kitchen and the back door.
