Homes in the north and what they usually need

The middle ring of the north is post-war brick veneer, much of it now renovated or rebuilt, with apartments and townhouses along the tram lines in Brunswick, Coburg, Northcote and Thornbury. Carpet in these homes is a mix of older wool and newer synthetic, and traffic lanes in hallways are the most common problem. Further out, Thomastown, Lalor and Epping are established family homes with a lot of rentals, and Mernda, Doreen, Wollert and South Morang are new estates where end-of-lease and new-carpet cleans dominate. Eltham and the Banyule hills have larger blocks and dustier carpets.

Should I choose steam or dry cleaning?

Steam (hot water extraction) for heavy soiling, pet accidents, allergies and end-of-lease cleans; dry cleaning for wool and natural fibres, light maintenance, and rooms that must be back in use within the hour. We recommend one after looking at the carpet, and both cost the same.
