Carpet Steam Cleaning Melbourne
Carpet steam cleaning across Melbourne: hot water extraction lifts dirt, allergens and stains, dry in 1 to 3 hours. Fixed quote first.
Takes 2 minutes · reply within 60 min, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm

Masters of Steam and Dry Cleaning steam cleans carpets across every Melbourne suburb using truck-mounted and portable hot water extraction machines. Steam cleaning is the method most carpet manufacturers ask for on their warranties: hot water and a mild cleaning solution are injected into the pile under pressure, then extracted along with the dirt, allergens and residue that vacuuming leaves behind. Stain treatment is included, every job is quoted before we start, and carpets are usually dry within one to three hours.

How carpet steam cleaning works
The name is slightly misleading: no actual steam touches your carpet. The process is hot water extraction. We vacuum first, pre-spray a solution matched to the fibre and the soiling, agitate heavy-traffic lanes, then extract with water heated to around 80 degrees. The heat loosens oils and sticky residue; the vacuum pulls the water straight back out, so the backing never gets soaked. A final grooming pass sets the pile so it dries evenly.
When steam beats dry cleaning
- Heavily soiled or high-traffic carpet, especially hallways and stairs.
- Pet accidents, food spills and anything that has soaked past the surface.
- Allergy sufferers: extraction removes dust-mite waste rather than encapsulating it.
- End-of-lease cleans where the agent expects a steam-clean receipt.
If you need to walk on the carpet within the hour, or the carpet is wool, jute or sisal, our carpet dry cleaning is the better fit. We will tell you which one suits your carpet when you book.

Drying time and aftercare
Most carpets are touch-dry in one to three hours; thick wool or a very heavy clean can take up to six. Open windows or run a fan or the heating, keep foot traffic light until dry, and leave the foil tabs under furniture legs for 24 hours so nothing marks the damp pile.
Steam cleaner hire versus a professional clean
A hired machine still costs you a day’s hire plus solution, runs at a fraction of the heat and suction of a professional unit, and usually leaves carpet wet for a day or more. Our comparison of hire and professional cleaning covers the real numbers. For most three-room homes the price gap is small and the result is not close.

FAQs
Is carpet steam cleaning safe for children and pets?
Yes. We use low-residue solutions that are safe once dry, and the extraction step removes most of the solution along with the dirt. Keep pets and crawling children off the carpet until it is dry, usually one to three hours.
How often should carpet be steam cleaned?
Every six to twelve months for a typical home, and every three to six months with pets, allergies or heavy traffic. Most manufacturers require an annual professional clean to keep the warranty.
Does steam cleaning remove pet urine smell?
It removes the urine that is in the fibre and the top of the underlay. Where urine has soaked through to the underlay we add an enzyme treatment, which is included in our stain treatment.
